Weekly Report - 21 October 2003

Former President Carlos Menem has announced his intention to `rebuild' the ruling Partido Justicialista (PJ). Speaking last week from his home province of La Rioja, he accused President Néstor Kirchner of `destroying the country' and of playing into the hands of Communists. Claiming for himself credit as `the only one who ruled and didn't fail', Menem called for a restoration of the close relations with the US that he forged during his 10 years in office.
